The basic component of the car lamp assembly is the light group, which includes three parts: light source, reflector and translucent lens. In addition, according to the different functions, the car lamp assembly can be divided into lighting lamps and signal lamps.

Lighting lamps include: headlights (low beam and high beam), front fog lights, reversing lights, sidelights, etc.

Signal lamps include: position lights, clearance lamps, turn signal lights, brake lights, rear fog lights, license plate lights, and reflex Reflectors.

According to the installed light source, headlamps can be divided into gas lamps (gas discharge lamps) and electric lamps (incandescent lamps). And electric lamps are divided into incandescent lamps and halogen tungsten lamps.

The headlights include low beams and high beams. The low beam is a kind of short-distance car lamp, when there are other cars or people in front of the vehicle, it will not make the other person feel dazzled or uncomfortable. The high beam is a long-distance car lamp used when there are no other road users in front of the vehicle.

From the perspective of the headlight models, there are roughly four types of lighting lamps: H1, H3, H4, H7, etc. The models of Chinese cars are mostly H4; European models are H1, H3, H7, D2S/R; American models are HB3 (9003), HB4 (9004), HB5 (9005)

  • Front fog lights

This kind of car lamp is mainly used to improve the visibility in extreme weather such as fog, snow and rain. To prevent the dazzling of oncoming drivers, the projection distance of the front fog light on the ground is shorter than that of the low beam.

Position light

Position lamp, which is also called a clearance lamp, is a car lamp that mainly indicates the presence and width of the vehicle. While the brake light is a type of light at the rear of the vehicle to indicate that the vehicle is braking.

At present, the rear fog lamp is required to be viewed from the rear of the vehicle in heavy fog, making the vehicle more visible. Due to the strong light penetrating power, it can greatly reduce the rear-end collision of cars under severe weather conditions.

The installation principle of car lamps on vehicles is: the reference axis of the lamps should be parallel to the ground; the reference axis of the side reflector and the side lamp should be perpendicular to the longitudinal center plane of the vehicle, and the reference axes of other lamps should be parallel to this longitudinal center plane, the allowance in each direction is ±3°. This installation principle is especially important for lamps whose installation positions are not adjustable except for headlamps and front fog lamps.
