What is the USDM?

USDM is derived from JDM culture in North America. Based on the JDM vehicle, USDM integrates more US cultural elements. Actually, the playing method of USDM is not as complex as JDM, you can match the different elements casually.

First of all, prepare a Japanese vehicle. It’s not necessary to fully comply with whether the car has been sold in Japan.Then, there is the process of modification. When formulating a modification plan, it is not necessary to be more competitive like JDM. But whether the vehicle can be called a USDM modified car needs to be judged from the following aspects.

• Engine Compartment

Firstly is the modification of the engine compartment. The engine compartment of the USDM modified car is very different from the JDM car.

If you open up the engine compartment of the JDM car, except for upgrades sets, you’ll find that there exists massive wiring. However, the inner engine compartment of the USDM car is different from the JDM car. When you open up the engine compartment, you will never see all kinds of complex wiring displays in every corner. But only a sparkling engine in the spotlessly engine compartment.

This is the inner layout of the USDM engine compartment. It looks clean in a word. All wire harnesses are hidden by the embedding method. Not just an engine as it looks.
But the problem is that if many parts in the engine bay are removed, then the vehicle will not be able to drive normally. If parts like the battery are removed, even starting the engine will be a problem.
In fact, except for some necessary parts move to the tail compartments, many unnecessary parts like A/C compressors, were thrown away.

• Appearance

From the appearance, USDM modified cars are more eye-catching. This is not because they have installed a lot of aerodynamic kits and surrounds but use chrome parts.
Such as rims, since many USDM will adopt a Hella Flush style, chrome-plated rims are an indispensable and important part. Even if chrome-plated rims are not used, the gloss should be high enough. Compared to the exaggerated shape of JDM cars, USDM takes a different route.

• Interior Decoration

In terms of interior decoration, since USDM models rarely adopt a competitive modification style, the racing seats, four-point safety belts, and roll cages are not necessary. Basically, it is enough to use the leather seats of the original car.
In summary, JDM models more focus on performance parameters, while USDM is more inclined to texture, or follow a trend culture.
